The Detroit Lions have re-signed defensive tackle Andre Fluellen. He was brought back after the Lions decided to put defensive tackle Corey Williams on injured reserve on Tuesday afternoon, according to Dave Birkett.
Fluellen spent the first four seasons of his career with the Lions. He was drafted in 2008 and was with the team up until the final round of roster cuts this year. Fluellen still had enough talent to make the roster, but the Lions simply didn't have room for an additional defensive lineman. Fluellen later signed with the Miami Dolphins and was active for two games before being released.
Williams is headed to IR with a knee injury that has bothered him all season. He had surgery back in September, and he only managed to play in seven games this season. Nick Fairley stepped in as a starter at defensive tackle with Williams out and has been performing quite well, so it's possible this could be it for Williams' time in Detroit considering he is set to become a free agent this upcoming offseason.
