For the Detroit Lions, NFL mock draft season started about a month ago. Now that the 2013 NFL Draft order is set and we know that the Lions own the fifth overall pick, it's really time to get mock draft season rolling.
In SB Nation's first 2013 NFL mock draft, the Lions are predicted to pick Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner. The reasoning for the pick is simple. While the Lions could use a pass-rusher like Bjoern Werner or Jarvis Jones, Milliner "would give them a corner that can play on an island, but support the run." In other words, the Lions would finally address their need at cornerback with a player who has the potential to be elite.
Personally, I've been on board with the idea of picking Milliner since I watched him destroy Michigan at Cowboys Stadium to start the college football season. I know there are questions about if Milliner is truly an elite corner, but he does seem to be the top cornerback in the class. I know the Lions pick by best player available, but this could be a situation where selecting for need is the right move if they really want to work at fixing their secondary.
As of right now, which player would you like to see the Lions pick at No. 5?
