Re-signing cornerback Eric Wright may prove to be more difficult than originally thought. He hit the open market today and already is drawing interest from multiple teams. From Adam Schefter:
San Francisco, Washington and Tampa Bay all pursuing free-agent CB Eric Wright.

Because of their cap situation, the Detroit Lions are not going to get in a bidding war over somebody like Wright. They simply can't afford to, and it wouldn't be wise to overpay for a guy like Wright. That philosophy is actually what helped them land Wright a year ago, as he chose less money and a chance to play in Detroit over more money and returning to Cleveland to play for the Browns.
If Wright does indeed sign elsewhere, the Lions will have an even bigger need at cornerback than they do right now. Depth and talent already aren't so great at the position, and losing Wright would increase the need to make some upgrades this offseason.
