Chiefs Reportedly 'Very Serious' About Signing Eric Winston

Offensive tackle Eric Winston may be scheduled to visit the Detroit Lions, but whether he actually takes that visit remains to be seen. I say that because he has already visited or is scheduled to visit several other teams before he heads to Detroit, including the Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Rams and Baltimore Ravens. The Chiefs hosted him on Thursday, and according to Jason La Canfora, they don't want him to leave without a deal.

Even if Winston does leave Kansas City without signing, the Lions will have to hope he remains unsigned after visiting both the Rams and Ravens. It's entirely possible that he may still be a free agent and take the Lions visit, but I'm skeptical, especially if a team like the Chiefs are intent on getting a deal done.

I'm also skeptical because of what the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero reported on Thursday. He said that Winston is "looking to become the highest-paid right tackle in the NFL." If that's the case, then you can probably go ahead and scratch the Lions off the list, because I don't see them doing a deal like that with Winston.
