Eric Winston Will Reportedly Visit Lions On Monday If He Remains Unsigned

When the Detroit Lions scheduled a visit with offensive tackle Eric Winston earlier this week, I was skeptical that it would actually happen. He had already visited the Miami Dolphins, and he was reportedly set to visit the Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Rams and Baltimore Ravens before making his way to Detroit.

I was especially skeptical that Winston would actually visit the Lions after hearing updates on his contract negotiations with the Chiefs. Kansas City was reportedly "very serious" about getting a deal done with Winston, and contract talks were continuing last night.

As it turns out, it looks like the Lions may be next up for Winston. His visit with the Rams was canceled, and if no deal is done with the Chiefs, the Lions are reportedly going to host him next.

A source told FOXSports.com that the right tackle is set to visit with the Lions on Monday if he doesn’t sign Saturday with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Winston has reportedly been seeking a pretty big deal, and it doesn't seem like the Lions are a team that would give out a big contract for somebody not even guaranteed to start (he would likely battle Gosder Cherilus for the starting job at right tackle). Of course, perhaps the Lions have other plans that we are not yet aware of that would make a move to add Winston make more sense.
