Despite it coming out on Monday that the Detroit Lions had re-signed linebacker Stephen Tulloch, his contract numbers didn't leak out until Thursday. Finally, today, we found out what his five-year deal looks like. From Anwar Richardson:
Tulloch signed a five-year contract worth $25.5 million, with $11.25 million guaranteed, according to sources. That gives Tulloch an average salary of $5 million a year, which is about $1 million per year less than he hoped for.
That is a really great deal for the Lions. Earlier in the offseason, D'Qwell Jackson got a five-year, $42.5 million deal from the Cleveland Browns. Many assumed Tulloch would be after something similar, but in the end he signed a deal that is much more affordable for the Lions. Kudos to Martin Mayhew once again for getting a deal done that is good for the Lions.
The Lions held a press conference today in Allen Park to officially announce Tulloch's deal, and you can check out video of it right here.
