Lions Reportedly 'Getting Closer' To Re-Signing Kevin Smith

It appears the Detroit Lions are on the verge of re-signing another player. They haven't made any moves since last Thursday, but the Lions are "getting closer" to getting a deal done with running back Kevin Smith, according to Anwar Richardson. He reports that a deal could be done by this afternoon, which gels with what Smith said on Twitter this morning.

Smith said in a separate tweet that he isn't counting his eggs before they hatch, but he thanks everybody for the support and will let us know when he signs. Based on Richardson's report, it looks like he may be signed in the next few hours.

If Smith does indeed re-sign with the Lions, they will pretty much be set at running back. Jahvid Best, Mikel Leshoure, Keiland Williams and Joique Bell are currently under contract, and although there are plenty of question marks surrounding Best and Leshoure, adding Smith back into the mix would give the Lions quite a bit of talent at the position.
