Earlier this week, quarterback Drew Stanton made it known that he hopes to land a job somewhere in the NFL where he will get a chance to compete for playing time. Considering he was inactive for all 16 games last season with the Lions, Detroit doesn't exactly seem like the ideal spot for an opportunity like that.
Although it seems unlikely that he will return right now, Stanton didn't close the door on potentially returning to the Lions, and he reiterated on Twitter last night that he would not have any issue with staying with the team.
I love Detroit & would not hesitate to go back to the Lions. There are so many scenarios that could play out, I just have to wait and see!!!

For Stanton, the biggest thing to watch is what happens with Shaun Hill. The Lions are expected to re-sign him as Matthew Stafford's backup quarterback. If that does indeed happen, then Stanton will be inclined to take a look at opportunities with other teams. The Lions have said they would like to bring both quarterbacks back, but if Stanton can find an opportunity where he has a better chance to see the field, he should by all means go for it.
