Now that any questions about the legitimacy of the allegedly leaked NFL schedule have been silenced, the attention of fans is turning to when the actual schedule will be made public. Typically, the NFL announces the schedule prior to the NFL Draft. With the draft being only two or so weeks away, it's believed that the 2012 schedule could be announced as early as next Tuesday. From Pro Football Talk:
Perhaps more significantly, the TVGuide.com listings for Tuesday, April 17, continue to show a "SportsCenter Special: NFL Schedule Release" at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
This would make the most sense based on when past schedules have been announced, so I'd bet on next Tuesday night for when it'll be made public.
By the way, it turns out that one of the games on the fake schedule that made the rounds last week is actually correct for the Detroit Lions. Tom Lewand confirmed this during an interview, although he declined to say which game was accurate. (I'm assuming it's the Thanksgiving game against the Houston Texans considering the Indianapolis Colts are the only other possible opponent for that matchup.)
