With the 44th pick of Pride of Detroit's 2012 NFL mock draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Wisconsin offensive guard Kevin Zeitler. Mgoblue4ever is serving as the Chiefs' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.
Chiefs fans at Arrowhead Pride were almost unanimous in their desire for Stanford OG David DeCastro. DeCastro, however, went to the Rams at No. 6 overall and the Chiefs got Trent Richardson with their first-round pick. The Chiefs fill their void at RG with Zeitler, revamping the right side of the offensive line in combination with RT Eric Winston.
Zeitler is a solid, safe pick who can come in from day one and start at RG. He comes from a long line of offensive linemen at Wisconsin, and Zeitler will follow in their tradition of long, successful NFL careers. The Chiefs have given Matt Cassel all the tools to succeed next year, and if he doesn't, the Chiefs may look to make a Washington Redskins-esque move up in the draft for USC QB Matt Barkley.
