When training camp opens in the summer, chances are the Detroit Lions will have two kickers on their roster. One will be Jason Hanson, who is the starter and will remain the starter as long as he's healthy. The other kicker will be someone the Lions bring in mainly to take some of the load off of Hanson.
According to Jason La Canfora, the Lions were apparently hoping that second kicker would be Kai Forbath, who was recently released by the Dallas Cowboys.

Forbath was a really good kicker at UCLA but was injured for most of last season with the Cowboys. He would have been a solid No. 2 for the Lions to have on the roster during training camp, but they will have to look elsewhere with him being awarded to the Buccaneers.
