Transactions Tracker: A Look At What The Detroit Lions Have Done So Far This Offseason

We've hit the point in the offseason in between free agency and the NFL Draft where things have slowed down considerably. When free agency first started, there was a whirlwind of activity related to visits and signings, and the Detroit Lions ended up being quite active in the first two weeks or so. Now, with the focus turning to the draft, there hasn't been nearly as much news about transactions, so I figure it's a good time to take a deep breath and look back at what the Lions have done so far.

Signings

Re-signings

Restricted free agents (tendered but not yet signed)

  • OT Corey Hilliard - original-round tender (sixth round) worth $1.26 million (March 12)
  • DT Sammie Hill - original-round tender (fourth round) worth $1.26 million (March 12)
  • LB DeAndre Levy - second-round tender worth $1.927 million (March 12)

Franchised free agent (tendered but not yet signed)

  • DE Cliff Avril - one year, $10.605 million (March 5)

Releases

New contracts

  • WR Calvin Johnson - eight years, $150.5 million (March 14)

Restructured contracts

Free agents lost to other teams

Free agent visits

The Lions also scheduled visits with OT Eric Winston and S LaRon Landry, but they never actually happened. Winston signed with the Chiefs, whereas Landry signed with the Jets. Also, David Hawthorne was scheduled to visit and flew to Detroit right as the Lions re-signed Stephen Tulloch, so it's believed that he didn't go through an actual visit.
