2012 POD Mock Draft: First Round Recap

Draftlogo_medium
The 2012 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft came to a close on Monday. I'd like to thank everybody who participated in the mock either by making picks or simply voting on them. Just like always, it will be interesting to see which picks come true when the actual draft happens later this week.

As we wrap up the 2012 POD Mock Draft, I want to take a moment to examine some stats from each round. Today, we examine the first round.

  • The highest approval ratings of the first round involved the first three picks of the draft. BtotheLT's pick of Robert Griffin III for the Washington Redskins netted a 94 percent approval rating. Lionsfan_772's pick of Andrew Luck for the Indianapolis Colts and Dave Marshall's pick of Matt Kalil for the Minnesota Vikings were just behind at 93 and 92 percent, respectively.
  • Just like last year, five of the picks in the first round received approval ratings in the 80s: Riley Reiff going to the Arizona Cardinals with the 13th pick (80 percent), Courtney Upshaw going to the San Diego Chargers with the 18th pick (82 percent), Whitney Mercilus going to the Tennessee Titans with the 20th pick (80 percent), Nick Perry going to the New England Patriots with the 27th pick (80 percent) and Dont'a Hightower going to the Baltimore Ravens with the 29th pick (86 percent).
  • The lowest approval rating of the first round was for the 25th pick, which was Brandon Thompson going to the Denver Broncos. It received an approval rating of 31 percent.
  • The average approval rating for the first round was 68 percent, which is up from 62.8 percent last year.

You can check out all of the first-round picks from the 2012 POD Mock Draft after the jump.
