ESPN has posted video of the Madden 13 cover reveal that took place on Wednesday evening in New York. In case you somehow haven't heard by now, Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson won the Madden 13 cover vote. The announcement of Johnson's victory took place in Times Square on ESPN's SportsNation. Johnson beat Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton by a margin of 52-48 percent to secure the victory in the finals.
Here's a look at the video:
Putting the idea of the curse aside, I'm really glad Johnson won. When this contest started a month ago, I wasn't all that keen on the idea of a Lions player gracing the cover for a variety of reasons, but when the finals arrived, I really wanted Megatron to emerge victorious. In the end, he did, and he deserves a big pat on the back not only for garnering the honor of being on the cover, but also for how he handled himself throughout the contest. Watching the video contrasts the differences between Newton and Johnson quite well, and all I can say is I'm glad Johnson is the one who plays for the Lions.
