NFL Draft Rumors: Lions 'Legitimately Pursuing' Trade Up In First Round

You can go ahead and add another trade-related rumor to the list of possible options for the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Already, we've heard that the Lions have given consideration to moving up for a defensive back, specifically safety Mark Barron. We've also heard that the Lions are open to moving down if the right offer comes along. Now, there is a report that the Lions are pursuing a trade up to get South Carolina cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

At this point, I think it's safe to say anything could happen with the 23rd overall pick. If the Lions can make a deal work to get one of the top defensive backs in the draft, Martin Mayhew may just pull the trigger and make a move up. If not and he's not thrilled with the players available when the Lions go on the clock, then you may see them make a move down.

All I know is that with so many trade rumors swirling, it's going to be tough to turn away from the draft for even a second. You just never know when the Lions might make a move, as evidenced by all of the different rumors involving them.

UPDATE: La Canfora also reports that the Lions could get an offensive lineman if they move up.
