As of right now, we are up to at least five undrafted free agent signings for the Detroit Lions. Earlier, we found out about Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore and Illinois kicker Derek Dimke. The latest players set to sign with the Lions are Elon offensive guard Rodney Austin, New Mexico linebacker Carmen Messina and Houston wide receiver Patrick Edwards.
Congratulations to Atlas client Rodney Austin, newest member of the Detroit Lions.

The Lions are a pretty good place to land if you're an offensive guard. Depth isn't exactly rock solid, and even if you don't make the 53-man roster, there's probably a decent chance of landing on the practice squad. Of course, that's probably looking a bit too far ahead, but when UDFAs sign, they look to land with the team that will give them the best chance of making it out of camp on the 53-man roster.
Depth is much better for the Lions at linebacker and wide receiver, so Messina and Edwards likely will be auditioning for a spot on the practice squad more than anything.
