Wayne State WR Troy Burrell To Lions?

Nothing has been officially reported, but it appears that the Detroit Lions are bringing in undrafted free agent Troy Burrell, who is a wide receiver from Wayne State. This is based on a tweet sent by a Wayne State football player who also mentioned that David Mosley and Jeremy Jones have landed with the Chicago Bears. While nothing has been reported about Jones as far as I can tell, Dave Birkett did confirm that Mosley has received a tryout with the Bears.

My guess is that if Burrell is in fact going to take part in the Lions' rookie minicamp, he probably was extended a tryout rather than a contract. Already we know of two undrafted free agents who are receivers set to join the Lions (Patrick Edwards and Jared Karstetter), and a tryout seems more likely for Burrell, who attended the Lions' local workout earlier this month.

In other Wayne State player news, offensive tackle Joe Long has agreed to terms with the St. Louis Rams, according to Jim Thomas. I was hoping the Lions would sign Long as an undrafted free agent, but instead he is headed to St. Louis.

UPDATE: Dave Birkett reports that Burrell did in fact agree to terms last night with the Lions.
