2012 POD Mock Draft: Washington Redskins Select Robert Griffin III

With the second pick of Pride of Detroit's 2012 NFL mock draft, the Washington Redskins select Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III. BtotheLT is serving as the Redskins' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.

The first three games of the 2011 season, RGIII had more touchdown completions than incomplete passes. Ending the season with a 72.7 completion percentage, he doesn't just bring accuracy; RGIII comes with arm strength and a quick release. This combination will make him effective attempting any NFL throw.

Not only will Washington be selecting a great passer, they will be selecting an athlete capable of 4.4 speed. This speed will give him opportunities to extend any broken play. For opposing defensive coordinators, it will leave them obligated to sacrifice a defensive back or linebacker to containment duties.

Entering the NFL with year-to-year improvement, consistent passing production and dynamic play-making ability. RGIII will be a day one starter and will most likely be a team captain at the start of the season. For the Washington Redskins, this selection brings them a bridge stone they can call their franchise quarterback.
