At this point in the offseason, the last thing most of you probably want to even think about is a mock draft for next year. I'm right there with you. I'm ready to move on from all talk of mock drafts until hopefully February 2013. However, before we completely move on, I do want to take a quick look at Mocking The Draft's 2013 NFL mock draft.

The main reason I want to bring attention to MTD's mock draft isn't because of the player the Detroit Lions are predicted to pick. Rather, I want to highlight the fact that the Lions are predicted to pick 29th in the draft. This would mean that they made it to the NFC Championship game, where they lost to the Green Bay Packers, which are predicted to pick last in the draft. While losing to the Packers one game away from the Super Bowl would be disappointing, it would be exciting for the Lions to make it that far.

By the way, the player the Lions are predicted to take is Wisconsin running back Montee Ball, who somewhat surprisingly decided to return to college after an outstanding 2011 season. He rushed for nearly 2,000 yards and ended up finishing with 39 total touchdowns, tying Barry Sanders' single-season TD record.

In SB Nation's 2013 NFL mock draft, the Lions are slated to pick 28th and select Oregon running back Kenjon Barner.
