Although Jahvid Best has been cleared to work out and is taking part in the Detroit Lions' offseason training program, he has not yet been cleared for contact. During an interview tonight, Lions general manager Martin Mayhew explained the reasoning behind Best's lack of clearance for contact right now.
Lions GM Martin Mayhew said he expects Jahvid Best to be cleared for contact in June. He said no reason to do it now because no contact.

Best simply being cleared for contact won't mean anything until he actually has some contact on the field, of course. That will be the real test to see if he will be good to go for next season.
