The latest round of the Madden 13 cover vote has come to a close, narrowing the field of candidates down from 16 to eight. Of the eight players who advanced and are still in the mix to be on the cover of Madden 13, two are from the NFC North: Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
Johnson once again won his matchup with ease. He took down Houston Texans running back Arian Foster by a margin of 73 percent to 27 percent. This was the second-biggest margin in round two (Cam Newton received 83 percent of the vote in his matchup). In round one, Johnson won by the biggest margin by receiving 92 percent of the vote.
In round three, Johnson is matched up against New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. Gronkowski defeated Jared Allen in round two by receiving 65 percent of the vote. In round one, he beat Brandon Lloyd after getting 85 percent of the vote.
If Johnson wins again, he will advance to the semifinals and face either Rodgers or Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice.
