With the eighth pick of Pride of Detroit's 2012 NFL mock draft, the Miami Dolphins select South Carolina defensive end/linebacker Melvin Ingram. Chucka is serving as the Dolphins' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.

Why reach for a QB when you can get an impact player in the top 10? My pick here is OLB Melvin Ingram (6-2, 264 lbs.). He is the BPA and fills the need of another pass rusher to go along with Cameron Wake. I was hoping Justin Blackmon would fall, and I would have considered David DeCastro with this pick had he been there. Ryan Tannehill was not considered because of Matt Moore and David Garrard and because you can get a developmental QB later in the draft.
