Last year, the NFL decided to have former players announce the picks in the second round of the draft. It appears that will be the plan for the second round this year as well, and the Detroit Lions have requested that former running back Barry Sanders do the honors again.
Just found out today that the @DetroitLionsNFL and @NFL have asked me back to announce the Lions 2nd round draft pick
— Barry Sanders (@BarrySanders) April 4, 2012
Sanders announced the Lions' 44th overall pick in 2011, which turned out to be Boise State wide receiver Titus Young. The Lions also ended up with the 57th overall selection, and a fan got to announce the pick of Illinois running back Mikel Leshoure.
After the jump is video of Sanders announcing the Young pick from last year's draft.
