If the allegedly leaked 2012 NFL schedule that came out last week seemed too good to be true, it's because it was. The schedule was called "bogus" by the NFL, and on Sunday, the person behind it confirmed that it was fake. Here's the gist of his "coming clean" post:
As many (and I mean, many) of outlets have reported, this is indeed a fabricated schedule that I completely made up for the NFL 2012 Regular Season. If that's all you need to hear, that's fine. If you want to hear more, feel free to keep reading.
The purpose of coming up with this fake schedule was apparently to see how difficult it was to put together a slate of games for a season. As the person behind all of this quickly found out, it actually is quite difficult to work out everything. Despite this, he put out a schedule that looked pretty legitimate, so I do have to give him a pat on the back.
What this all means is that we still have to wait another couple weeks for the release of the actual 2012 NFL schedule. The fake version got my hopes up about how many primetime games the Lions will have in 2012, so I'm hoping I won't be disappointed with the official schedule when it is announced.
