With the 19th pick of Pride of Detroit's 2012 NFL mock draft, the Chicago Bears select Stanford offensive tackle Jonathan Martin. Nate D. is serving as the Bears' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.

Basically, my pick came down to two choices -- Martin and DE Whitney Mercilus. With the best defensive line help off the board along with the best LB in Luke Kuechly, Martin is the obvious standout. He grades well as an NFL left tackle coming straight from college and has prototypical size to protect the Bears’ franchise QB for years.

Martin could easily be a cornerstone of the Bears’ offensive line, and Chicago can’t afford to miss on their picks, having traded away so many in the past few years for big names like Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall. Martin offers a high floor, without Mercilus’ high ceiling, but also seems unlikely to bust – a great value at pick 19.
