Lions To Bring In R.J. Archer, Gary Gray For Tryouts

The Detroit Lions begin their rookie minicamp on Friday, meaning we should get a look at the list of undrafted free agent signings in the next 24 hours. We should also get a look at the list of players being invited to the minicamp on a tryout. Two players expected to be on the tryout list are quarterback R.J. Archer and cornerback Gary Gray (per Dave Birkett).

Archer was with the Minnesota Vikings back in 2010 after being signed as an undrafted free agent. Right now, he is playing for the AFL's Georgia Force, and he is looking forward to the opportunity to attend the minicamp.

"It's definitely a good opportunity; it's always great when an NFL team wants to take a look at you," stated Archer. "I'm just ready to get up there and get on the field and show them what I can do."

Considering the only known undrafted free agent quarterback to sign with the Lions is Kellen Moore, adding Archer for the minicamp will give them another arm for the weekend.

As for Gray, he went to Notre Dame and is probably best known to Lions fans as being the player Michigan's Denard Robinson picked on in the Wolverines' comeback victory in the "Under the Lights" game in 2011.
