The Detroit Lions have not yet signed a veteran safety, but it's not for a lack of trying. They have put an emphasis on exploring quite a few different options at safety, but none of the players they have expressed interest in have signed with the team as of right now.
So far this offseason, the Lions have hosted free-agent safeties Oshiomogho Atogwe, Chris Crocker and Sean Jones for visits. They have also expressed interest in Deon Grant, according to what Grant said in an interview this week (via MLive).
FA S Deon Grant tells us on @SiriusXMNFL NYG, DET, DAL and others have shown interest in him. But he's in no rush to sign at the moment

Grant has been in the league since 2000 and spent the previous two seasons in New York with the Giants. Like the other free-agent safeties the Lions have expressed interest in, Grant doesn't seem ready to sign anywhere yet. Perhaps once OTAs are out of the way some of these guys will start signing.
