Outlook for 2012
Just like Gottlieb, Wells faces an uphill battle in his attempt to make the 53-man roster. The Lions have Brandon Pettigrew, Tony Scheffler and Will Heller back, and barring an injury, the spots at tight end seem to be locked up. It would take quite an effort in training camp out of Wells or the other TEs trying to make the team to actually unseat someone like Heller. In all likelihood, Wells' hopes of sticking around will come down to making the practice squad.
