Lions Notes: Matthew Stafford, Rob Sims, More

  • The Detroit Lions' first OTA of the offseason is set for Monday morning.
  • NFL Films' Greg Cosell recently put together a post breaking down Matthew Stafford and Cam Newton.
  • Stafford attended a charity event at the University of Michigan this weekend and bid $15,000 on a Monday Night Football package for this upcoming season's Lions-Bears game in Chicago. Interestingly, he was the one who donated the package in the first place, and then he ended up making the winning bid so he could give it to a family he met at the event.
  • Nate Burleson thinks Stafford is one of the top five best quarterbacks in football right now.
  • Calvin Johnson is offering scholarships to local high school football players.
  • Rob Sims thinks Mikel Leshoure "looks good" and "looks like he did last year before the injury." That's good to hear.
  • Last week, Sims explained his decision to gain some weight this offseason.
  • Ryan Broyles was out at the NFLPA Rookie Premiere this past weekend. While there, he was interviewed by Sirius NFL Radio. He said this about wearing the No. 84 jersey: "It was cool to put on a Lions jersey more than anything and getting to represent No. 84, Herman Moore's old number."
  • Dave Birkett broke down the salaries of the Lions' draft picks last week.
  • It seems nobody is interested in being on Hard Knocks this year.
