Lions To Host Practice, Randy Houser Concert At Ford Field On Aug. 5

The Detroit Lions have taken their annual training camp practice at Ford Field and turned it into an event that includes a concert. Now called "Coach's Kickoff," the Lions will practice at Ford Field on Sunday, Aug. 5 at 6:45 p.m. Doors to the practice will open at 5 p.m., and there will be an autograph session for 45 minutes.

Following the practice, there will be a concert at 8 p.m. featuring Randy Houser, who is a country music singer. Schwartz explained why Houser was selected for the concert in the press release sent out about the event.

"I’m a Randy Houser fan, but missed him the last time he came thru town," Lions Coach Jim Schwartz said. "I am thrilled he is going to be the headliner for our first event.

"I’m a big country music fan so it’s going to be really cool that Lions fans will be able to combine both experiences (music and football) at Ford Field.

"It’s a great way to kick-off the 2012 season and, hopefully, this will become a tradition every Lions fan looks forward to each August."

The cost to attend the practice/concert will be $20 for general admission floor seats, $10 for general admission seats in the stands and $5 for kids.
