I'm not quite sure why CBS Sports' Mike Freeman has such a big problem with the Detroit Lions. Is it the off-field issues, Ndamukong Suh's stomp last season or a combination of various factors? Whatever it may be, Freeman clearly is no fan of the Lions. He recently put together a list of the NFL's 10 biggest jerks, and he spent the first part of the article talking about how hard it was to keep the number of Lions on the list to a minimum.
I know the Lions have had their fair share of issues recently, but are they really a team full of jerks? I don't think so, and Freeman didn't even actually put a Lions player on his list. He did say that Ndamukong Suh would come in at No. 3 in his top 10 if the New Orleans Saints are innocent and need to be replaced on the list, but he's not actually on it right now. Only Lions head coach Jim Schwartz is, and he is in a tie for the final spots on the list with handshake buddy Jim Harbaugh. Here's why:
This is a tough one. Went to high school with Schwartz. Love him. Excellent coach, but his overreaction to a hard handshake from Harbaugh is a classic jerk reaction from a guy with a serious sideline temper.
Obviously, this isn't meant to be taken too seriously, and Freeman is right when he says Schwartz has a temper. Seemingly every game he does something noteworthy on the sidelines, and whether this is a good or bad thing really depends on your point of view.
(Side note: It's worth mentioning that Calvin Johnson came in at No. 6 on the list of Freeman's "top good guys.")
