S Sam Proctor (Oklahoma) - Undrafted Free Agent

After the 2012 NFL Draft ended, Sam Proctor was reportedly signed by the Detroit Lions. It turned out that he was in fact invited to the Lions' rookie minicamp, but only on a tryout basis. He wasn't actually signed to the team until after the minicamp ended. He had to earn a contract offer while at the minicamp, and he did just that.

Outlook for 2012

Proctor's chances of making the 53-man roster aren't great. Just like with Alonzo Lawrence, there are several players ahead of Proctor at safety right now, making it unlikely that he will make the active roster. A spot on the practice squad isn't out of the question, but anything beyond that is a stretch barring an outstanding training camp and preseason.
