This has not been a good day for the Detroit Lions' secondary. Earlier, cornerback Aaron Berry was released following his second arrest in the last month. Berry was a projected starter at cornerback, and his release means the Lions' rookies will have to step it up. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like rookie cornerback Chris Greenwood will get much of a chance due to an injury.
Greenwood is expected to start training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. This is because he had surgery to repair a torn lower abdomen muscle. He suffered the injury during an OTA in May, and it doesn't appear that he is going to be healthy in time for the start of camp.
"It’s definitely been frustrating just because I haven’t been able to show what I can do," Greenwood told detroitlions.com. "I haven’t had the opportunity outside of a couple days that I practiced. It’s something people go through sometimes and I’m just trying to bounce back."
Greenwood is unsure of when he will be able to return from this injury.
