- Both Johnny Culbreath and Aaron Berry unsurprisingly cleared waivers after being released by the Detroit Lions earlier this week.
- During his pre-training camp press conference on Thursday, Jim Schwartz addressed the move to release Berry by saying that "it was an easy decision for the team."
- It's not known if Jahvid Best has been cleared for contact. He was supposed to go through the various tests as part of getting cleared on Thursday, but Schwartz made it sound like it was not a sure thing that Best would be cleared. I suppose we will learn more on Friday.
- WXYZ has posted video of an interview with Schwartz from Wednesday's Ford Lions Report.
- Shawn Jefferson broke down Calvin Johnson's top play of 2011, which was his touchdown reception in triple coverage against the Dallas Cowboys.
- Dominic Raiola's dream is to parade the Lombardi Trophy down Woodward after winning the Super Bowl.
- SB Nation's Ryan Van Bibber ranked the Lions' quarterbacks seventh in the NFL.
- SB Nation's NFL bloggers voted on preseason power rankings. The Lions came in at No. 11 in the league.
- CBS Sports' Pete Prisco thinks the Lions will go 9-7 in 2012 and miss the playoffs.
- Former Lions offensive guard Leonard Davis signed with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday.
- Chad Ochocinco, who is now once again known as Chad Johnson, posted six "AFC and NFC acronyms that will save any NFL player from getting into trouble" last week. Lions players should especially read it.
- The UFL is surprisingly returning. I didn't even know the league still existed.
