The three players who were banged up during Saturday's practice for the Detroit Lions sat out Sunday's practice. Running back Mikel Leshoure, offensive tackle Jeff Backus and safety Erik Coleman were all sidelined due to injuries that have been described as "short term" by Jim Schwartz.
Leshoure suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday's practice. He said after practice that he was "fine," and it seems that the Lions are just being extra cautious with him. Today, Leshoure described the injury as "nothing bad" and not serious, so this doesn't appear to be a long-term thing.
All we know about Backus is that he hurt his thumb and isn't expected to miss a ton of time. Both Backus and Schwartz declined to give specifics about the injury other than indicating it won't keep Backus out for long. According to Anwar Richardson, Backus had his right hand wrapped but wasn't wearing a cast, so that's a good sign.
As for Coleman, he suffered a "minor muscle tweak" on Saturday, according to Schwartz. His injury is also considered to be a short-term thing.
