Of all the Detroit Lions' rookies, the one who may have the best chance to make an immediate impact is cornerback Bill Bentley. A third-round pick in this year's draft, Bentley has been getting a lot of work as the Lions' nickelback during the first four days of training camp. He has been making the most of this opportunity and has been quite solid as the nickelback, as evidenced by the following tweets from today's practice:

Bentley accidentally "popped" Nate Burleson during practice and apologized, according to Anwar Richardson, but aside from that he seemed to have an excellent day of practice. He got reps as the nickelback on both the first and second team and seems to be establishing himself the favorite to be the nickelback come the start of the regular season.

The obvious disclaimer is that the regular season is still quite a ways away considering the Lions haven't even played a preseason game yet. Even so, Bentley is off to a very good start for a rookie.
