On Sunday afternoon, Cliff Avril became the latest Detroit Lions player to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before a Detroit Tigers game. He was joined by actor and Michigan native Dax Shepard, who threw out his own first pitch.

Earlier this offseason, Matthew Stafford got to throw out the first pitch before a game against the Texas Rangers. Calvin Johnson threw out the first pitch before the Tigers took on the Pittsburgh Pirates, and he hit a home run during batting practice. More recently, Ryan Broyles threw out the first pitch before the Tigers took on the St. Louis Cardinals last month.
By the way, the Tigers beat the Kansas City Royals by a score of 7-1, meaning they finished the first half of the season on a positive note.
