It looks as though Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz was telling the truth on Monday about wide receiver Calvin Johnson. Schwartz said that Johnson missed practice because of general soreness and to get a day of rest. Although Johnson had his left index finger taped up, his absence wasn't related to that injury, according to Schwartz.
Based on what has happened with injuries in the past, it was only natural to be a bit skeptical, but Johnson returned to practice on Tuesday. This indicates his finger injury isn't a major issue and that Monday's day off was in fact just a day off. His performance on Tuesday also indicates that all is well.
