For at least the third time this year, the Detroit Lions have unsuccessfully tried to claim a player off waivers. Earlier this offseason, they put in waiver claims for offensive tackle Kevin Murphy and kicker Kai Forbath, but teams with higher priority on the waiver wire ended up with them. Now, the Lions have lost out on defensive tackle Ronnie Cameron to a team with higher priority, according to Aaron Wilson.
The Lions were far from the only team interested in Cameron, who was recently released by the Chicago Bears.
Awarded to the Cleveland Browns because of their higher priority waiver claim, the former Old Dominion standout was also the subject of claims from the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Cameron is an undrafted free agent from Old Dominion. Based on the fact that so many teams put in a waiver claim for him, he must have a lot of potential.
