It appears the Detroit Lions have completed their first trade of the summer. Ever since Aaron Berry was released, Lions fans have been waiting for Martin Mayhew to make a move to improve the depth at cornerback. It appears that move has come in the form of a trade for Washington Redskins cornerback Kevin Barnes.
Kevin barnes said he was traded to detroit. Just talked to him. Initially he thought he was being released. Not sure for what yet.

Barnes is entering his fourth season in the NFL and appeared in 15 games last season. He only made one start, but he had 26 tackles, four pass defenses and two interceptions. A year earlier, he had 17 tackles, five pass defenses and one interception in 10 games.
Clearly, the Lions aren't happy with their depth at cornerback. Considering they probably didn't give up much in this trade, it's not a bad idea on Mayhew's part to go out and improve the roster before the chaos of the final round of roster cuts approaches.
More to come on this trade as it becomes available.
