As expected, the Detroit Lions have placed running back Jahvid Best and cornerback Chris Greenwood on the reserve PUP list. This move helped the Lions get down to the 75-man roster limit, and it means that both Best and Greenwood are out until at least Week 7 of the regular season.
Starting on Oct. 16, Best and Greenwood will be eligible to start practicing for the Lions. The Lions will then have 21 days to activate Best and Greenwood. If they decide not to activate them during this period, then the players will be out for the remainder of the season.
Considering Greenwood has missed all of training camp and Best still hasn't been cleared for contact, it's no surprise they are headed to the reserve PUP list. The Lions are hoping that the extra time will serve Best well and he will be cleared to practice by the time Week 7 rolls around. As for Greenwood, he should be ready to hit the practice field by Week 7, as he is simply recovering from surgery to repair a torn lower abdomen muscle.
