Before the Detroit Lions acquired cornerback Kevin Barnes, it had been a while since they last made a trade. Now that Lions general manager Martin Mayhew has gotten back into the trading game, he may be looking to make additional moves in order to improve the roster.
Specifically, the Lions may be interested in acquiring a running back via a trade, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora. Because of injuries and a suspension, the Lions are lacking depth at running back, especially with Jahvid Best now set to miss at least the first six weeks of the season. La Canfora reports that Mayhew is exploring his options to trade for a running back.
Lions traded for CB Kevin Barnes Mon and may not be done dealing. Teams say Detroit GM Martin Mayhew making calls looking for a RB

In all likelihood, Mayhew is making calls about guys who could be acquired for a late-round pick rather than somebody like Maurice Jones-Drew. Either way, it's good to hear that Mayhew is searching for someone to add to the team at running back, because the Lions could use a big boost depth-wise.
