Rundown Of Detroit Lions' Currently Injured Players

New, comments

Detroit Lions training camp has now been underway for a week, and the list of injured players is really starting to reflect that. It seems to be growing by the day, which I suppose is to be expected. The majority of the injuries are relatively minor, but they are injuries nonetheless. Here's a rundown of who is banged up:

  • Running back Mikel Leshoure once again missed practice on Friday and has been out since last weekend with a hamstring injury.
  • Safety Louis Delmas also missed practice again on Friday. He may be "resting" because he's got a sore knee, but this is only "preventative" in the sense of keeping the injury from getting worse.
  • Linebacker Stephen Tulloch was sidelined on Friday with knee tendinitis. This injury forced him to miss the Lions' OTAs and minicamp, and now it's keeping him out of practice as well.
  • Offensive tackle Jeff Backus practiced for the second day in a row, and Justin Rogers reported after practice that it looked like Backus no longer had a cast on his injured thumb.
  • Defensive tackle Corey Williams didn't practice at all on Friday because of what Jim Schwartz called a "camp knee." In other words, he's a bit sore, so he got a day off to rest it.
  • Wide receiver Titus Young and defensive end Ronnell Lewis both left Friday's practice with "camp knees."
  • Wide receiver Ryan Broyles was pulled out of practice on Friday, according to Dave Birkett. Apparently trainers were trying to retape his knee before eventually just stopping. Chris McCosky reported that Broyles didn't look comfortable earlier in the practice.
  • Running back Stephfon Green was at practice on Friday despite being carted off on Thursday.
  • Offensive tackle Jonathan Scott didn't practice, but Dave Birkett reports that the knee injury Scott suffered on Thursday "isn't as bad as it appeared." Birkett also reports that Scott could be back next week.
  • Linebacker Ronnie Sneed was again out on Friday.
  • Cornerback Jacob Lacey and safety Erik Coleman both fully participated in Friday's practice. The two defensive backs returned on Thursday after missing some time earlier in the week, but they were still limited. Now they are back to being able to do everything.
  • Safety Don Carey came up lame in Friday's practice and had to get his hamstring wrapped up by trainers.
  • Running back Jahvid Best and cornerback Chris Greenwood remain on the PUP list. Best hasn't been cleared to return from the concussion he suffered last year, whereas Greenwood is coming back from surgery to repair a torn lower abdomen muscle.
