Earlier this week, the Detroit Lions placed offensive tackle Jonathan Scott on injured reserve. The move helped the Lions get down to the 75-player limit, and it made sense considering Scott had missed most of training camp with a knee injury.
On Thursday, the Lions parted ways with Scott by releasing him from injured reserve, according to Adam Caplan.

Scott was no longer counting against the roster, but by releasing him, he is now a free agent. Assuming his injury isn't one that will keep him out for the entire season, he now has the ability to find a new team looking for tackle help. Had he stayed on injured reserve, he would have remained with the Lions but been out for the entire season.
