Detroit Lions defensive end Cliff Avril is finally back with the team. After not being under contract since the new league year began, Avril signed his one-year franchise tender on Sunday morning, as first reported by Tim Twentyman. Avril reported to training camp on Sunday morning as well, meaning he could hit the practice field for the first time when the Lions head to Ford Field on Sunday night.
Avril is glad to be back, as are his teammates.

With Avril now under contract and with the team, let's hope this is the last time we have to talk about a contract dispute until next offseason at the earliest. The Lions now have everybody on the roster at training camp, and the focus for Avril can finally shift to getting ready for the season with his teammates.
