Cliff Avril may be back with the Detroit Lions, but Willie Young isn't about to let himself be overshadowed. He utilized Avril's absence in a very big way by not only getting more reps, but also by showing off his improvement to coaches. He had an outstanding offseason, and that has carried over into training camp.
Avril made his 2012 Lions practice debut on Monday, but Young managed to steal the show with what has been described as the best play of Lions training camp so far.
Willie Young just got his big paws on a Matthew Stafford pass for a pick 6. Great hands by Willie. I think the Lions have something here.

Willie young just made play of camp so far. Blew thru o line and picked off ball as it left Stafford's hand. Amazing.

Willie Young just made play of day - bursting through, stealing screen pass out of mid air. Capped off by reel-in celebration in end zone.

We got a glimpse of Young's athleticism last season with him in a limited role. This year, with Young expected to get more reps even with Avril back, there's no doubt he is one of the players I'm most looking forward to watching in 2012.
