Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure has been working his way back from an Achilles injury for the last year or so, and the hope going into training camp was that he would make his NFL debut in Friday's preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns. Unfortunately, a hamstring injury has forced Leshoure to miss the majority of training camp so far, and he will not be playing on Friday as a result.
The hope now is that Leshoure will be able to give it a go in next week's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens. He obviously needs to return to practice for that to happen, and Leshoure is hoping he will do just that next week. From MLive:
"Hopefully," Leshoure said. "I'm starting to run now. You never know how these days go, but I hope to get back on the field next week."
Leshoure worked with trainers during Thursday's practice and did some running off to the side. This is a good sign in terms of him being closer to returning to practice and ultimately closer to being ready to play in his first ever NFL game.
