The Detroit Lions now only have three spots open on their practice squad. This is because they have now signed running back Stephfon Green, wide receiver Patrick Edwards and linebacker Carmen Messina to the practice squad, according to Tim Twentyman. They join offensive guard Rodney Austin and cornerback Ross Weaver, who were signed earlier on Saturday.
Green joined the Lions as an undrafted free agent this offseason and is known best for his long touchdown run against the Baltimore Ravens in the preseason. He was actually released back on Monday, but the Lions have brought him back to be on the practice squad.
Edwards and Messina also joined the Lions as undrafted free agents this offseason. Both players nearly made the 53-man roster, but they ended up being released on Friday. Now they are back with the team as members of the practice squad.
