Next week could be very interesting for the Detroit Lions' running back situation. Currently, Kevin Smith, Keiland Williams, Joique Bell and Stefan Logan are the only running backs on the active roster. Mikel Leshoure is scheduled to return from his suspension in Week 3, meaning somebody like Bell could be in jeopardy of being the odd man out in a couple days.
Another interesting thing to keep an eye on is if the Lions will decide to bring in a running back from the outside. There has been speculation for months about the Lions deciding to sign a free-agent running back, but so far they haven't made a move. Perhaps that could change if Steve Slaton has a good workout, as he is scheduled to visit the Lions next week, according to Jason La Canfora.
Lions, who as i have been reporting looking to beef up at RB, will work out Steve Slaton next week. Slaton worked out for Bears today

As La Canfora mentioned, Slaton was in Chicago for a workout on Saturday. The Bears are looking to add depth after Matt Forte suffered an ankle injury on Thursday, and Slaton was given a look. Assuming he isn't signed, the Lions will give him a look next week.
