Matthew Stafford injury update: No practice on Wednesday for Lions QB

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford did not take part in practice on Wednesday because of an injury. His status for Sunday's game is up in the air.

Don McPeak-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford did not take part in practice on Wednesday. He is still recovering from the leg injury that he aggravated in Sunday's loss to the Tennessee Titans. The injury kept him out of the final few drives of the game for the Lions, and it has put his status for this week's game against the Minnesota Vikings in doubt.

The good news is that although he did miss practice, Stafford didn't appear to be limping, according to those who were in attendance.

Considering veteran players often take Wednesday off and still play, this doesn't really mean a whole lot right now. The key will be what happens on Thursday and especially Friday. If Stafford still can't practice later in the week, then chances are he won't play. If he is able to return, however, I would expect him to be the starting quarterback on Sunday.
